This year's CPAC stage is a Nazi symbol

This year's Conservative Political Action Committee, which is more MAGA rally than a committee meeting, ends this afternoon with a speech by Donald Trump himself. One of the subtexts of the event not getting much attention in the popular press but swirling around social media is the design of the stage, a clear representation of the Odal rune, which I never knew about.

This image is from one of several tweets.

The rendition of the Odal rune with wings or feet (serifs) was the badge of the SS Race and Settlement Main Office, which was responsible for maintaining the racial purity of the Nazi Schutzstaffel (SS). It was also the emblem of ethnic Germans (Volksdeutsche) of the 7th SS Volunteer Mountain Division Prinz Eugen operating during World War II in the Nazi Germany-sponsored Independent State of  Croatia... This particular rendition has no historical significance outside of Nazi Germany. Because of its Nazi associations, [the German criminal code] bans any usage of the Odal rune as with most other symbols if used in a Neo-Nazi context.

This budding controversy has yet to appear in the evening news but social media is complaining and this video appeared last night with comments disabled.

I don't know who Ben Jackson is, but he came across a thread by Nancy Levine, a well-known published writer of books about dogs, that got his attention.
Official Hyatt statement saying they are just fine with Nazis displaying nazi symbols in their property. I will never again stay at a Hyatt property. Will you? #HeilHyatt

Nancy Levine's Twitter thread expressed her outrage in unmistakable terms. When she complained the Hyatt response seems to be tossing her aside:
@Hyatt spokesperson told me to “Please direct all event-specific questions to the CPAC organizing team,” in response to my question about this similarity to Nazi symbology at #CPAC2021.

At this writing the day is still young. We'll see what happens over the next few hours.

Welp. That was yesterday, and I have yet to come across mention or images about it on any of the big platforms.    *Sigh*
