This note is not important, relevant or timely. I'm saving this curiosity because it illustrates how one of my searches found what I was looking for.
"I saw a video years ago dramatizing the state of surgery prior to the use of anasthesia. The surgeon's most important skill for an amputation was speed so the patient was assisted into the surgery by two men and had to give the surgeon permission to amputate pat of one leg damaged beyond healing by an accident. When the surgery started a man with a stopwatch was timing and when it was done observers in the gallery applauded. How might I find this film again?"
