Facebook & Twitter Notes, April 2, 2019

Gotta keep fighting those sneaky, commie, creeping environmental extremists.

This image is from a very good article for those able to endure the blizzard of ads infesting Ha'aretz.
After years of exhausting legal battles, home demolitions, police raids and a violent incident that resulted in a tragic death, the Bedouin village of Umm al-Hiran in the Negev will soon be vacated once and for all, with the land earmarked for a new Jewish community of Hiran. Hundreds of families are in the process of relocating to the large Bedouin town of Hura, as per a compensation agreement signed under duress. All that remains is to document life in their village so that they'll never forget it.

Legacy newspapers are going the way of drive-in movies, rotary dial phones and Blockbuster.

Lots of grunt work in the newspaper business. Reminds me of my own experience as a cafeteria manager. The number of freestanding units is slowly declining but the model remains the best way to feed many people at one location -- schools, hospitals, prisons, training facilities of all kinds. Food courts in shopping malls (many people fed at one location) were the beginning of the end for cafeterias retailing to the public.

This one is important & not too long.
Give it 30 seconds to decide if you can spare another couple of minutes.

David Brooks ticked off Mayor Pete's bona fides yesterday but his op-ed got

Archaeologists Discover World’s Oldest Break-Up Letter at Neo-Babylonian Site

“News has reached me via the Upper Euphrates that you were visiting with my childhood friend Nisaba. I am devastated by this betrayal, as you are one of my favorite concubines. You have until the end of the month to pick up your flax shawls and sandals or else I will donate them to the temple of the moon god.”
